Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information SwingPolls (“SwingPolls”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the SwingPolls mobile apps and the website swingpolls.com (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: email address, username, name and password (stored only as a salted hash). If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address and a unique account identifier from that provider.
- Profile information: date of birth, gender, location, nationality, languages, education level and profile photo. These are used to decide which polls you are eligible to vote on and to show aggregated result breakdowns.
- Content: polls, options, photos and videos you post, and reports you file.
- Votes: the option you choose on each poll.
- Verification documents: if you choose to get verified, a photo of an identity document. It is stored in private storage, is not publicly accessible, and is reviewed only by authorised staff to verify your account.
- Communications: messages you send to support.
Information collected automatically
- Device and log data: IP address, device type, operating system, app version and timestamps, used for security, abuse prevention and debugging.
- Sign-in records: a one-way hash of your device/network, used to alert you to sign-ins from new devices.
- Push notification tokens, if you allow notifications.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: create your account, show polls you can vote on, count votes and show results.
- To show poll creators aggregated results broken down by group (for example, “64% of voters aged 18–24 chose A”). We do not show creators which individual voted for which option.
- To verify accounts and keep the Service safe, including preventing duplicate or fraudulent votes and moderating reported content.
- To send service emails (password resets, security alerts, account changes) and, unless you unsubscribe, occasional product news.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
We process personal data to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, improving the Service), with your consent (for example, identity verification and marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time), and to comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf, such as hosting, content delivery and storage (e.g. Bunny.net), authentication and push notifications (Google Firebase), under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- Other users, to the extent you post public content: your username, profile photo and polls are visible to others.
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- A successor in the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
5. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we delete your profile, polls, reels, votes and uploaded media, typically within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records for legal or security reasons. Verification documents are deleted when they are no longer needed for review.
6. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile in the app at any time.
- Delete your account in the app (Profile › Settings › Delete account) or by emailing support@swingpolls.com.
- Unsubscribe from product emails using the link in any such email.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Children
SwingPolls is not intended for anyone under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, private storage for identity documents and access controls for staff. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
9. International transfers
Our servers and providers may be located outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
